About the association
Foreningen for Udendørsterapi Danmark / Danish Outdoor Therapy Association is a group of people who are interested in working with Outdoor Therapy in a Danish context.
Outdoor Therapy focuses on the use of the great outdoors (the Danish term: friluftslivet) in a therapeutic and challenging way. A number of professionals such as social workers, nature guides, teachers, scout leaders etc. have already for quite some time been using the great outdoors of Denmark in their work with children, adolescents and adults. As a therapeutic framework though, use of the outdoors is not yet widespread in Denmark. Something this association can hopefully help change.
To understand Outdoor Therapy in a Danish context we need to come together and share our experiences to inspire one another. A purpose of this association is therefore to gather all interested professionals who already use, or are interested in the use of, the great outdoors when working with other people’s development. To be learning, discovering and developing new knowledge together. This can also be done through shared working relationships, projects and publications.
This website will serve the function of bringing all interested parties together – please look below for more information on how to become a member of the association.
Furthermore, Foreningen for Udendørsterapi Danmark / Danish Outdoor Therapy Association is closely affiliated with the Nordic Outdoor Therapy Network. Together we make an effort to have the two groups, as well as the International Adventure Therapy Network, involved in a lot of networking with each other. The Nordic network currently consists of: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Link to their website here.
